Ten Years of WELÇOME, Drawn by Hand

Ten Years of WELÇOME, Drawn by Hand

The first two drops of the anniversary capsule — TRUST IN SKUB and LET IT RIP — are live. Here’s the story behind the art, the prices, and why this moment matters.

April 16, 2016. That’s when I started WELÇOME© with a hand-drawn logo and a belief that Detroit streetwear didn’t need to look like anybody else’s streetwear. Ten years later, I’m still drawing every piece by hand — and this anniversary capsule is the loudest way I know how to say thank you to everybody who’s been along for the ride.

The 10 Year Anniversary Collection is a sports, anime, essential, capsule, and the first two are out the gate right now: TRUST IN SKUB, a premium Tarik Skubal Tigers hoodie, and LET IT RIP, a Rip Hamilton Pistons tee. Early access started last night. The full public drop is Wednesday. Here’s what you need to know about both.

TRUST IN SKUB — $102.02

Let me tell you about this hoodie.

Tarik Skubal isn’t just Detroit’s ace — he’s the kind of player this city rallies around because he looks like he’s earned every pitch. When I drew him, I wasn’t trying to make fan merch. I was trying to make a portrait that felt like it belonged in a gallery and on a hoodie at the same time. The front is the best drawing of Skub on planet Earth. I’ll say it plain. Every stitch on that forearm, the away grays catching light, the stare before the wind-up — that’s hours of work and it’s the centerpiece of this piece.

But flip it around.

The back is a hand-painted view of Comerica Park under Detroit skies, with Ford Field in the distance and the WELÇOME scoreboard baked into the scene. Underneath the painting, stamped plain: WELÇOME® — 2100 Woodward Ave — Detroit, MI 48201. That’s not decoration. That’s a location marker. This hoodie comes from somewhere. You wear it and you’re carrying Woodward with you, whether you’re in Tokyo or Charleston or right outside Comerica.

And then the details: yellow WELÇOME embroidered on the sleeve. Matching drawstrings. Self-fabric half-moon patch at the neck. This is premium construction on purpose — because at 10 years in, I wanted a piece that could stand next to anything hanging in a boutique and hold its own.

About that $102.02 price. The .02 is Skub’s jersey number, obviously. But the full number is a signal: this is a premium-tier piece, and everything about it — the front portrait, the full-color back painting, the embroidered wrist, the location stamp — is paying for itself. If you’re buying this hoodie, you’re not buying merch. You’re buying a piece of a 10 year archive.

LET IT RIP — $36.32

Now let’s talk about Rip.

If Skub is the premium grail, Rip is the people’s piece. Richard Hamilton, #32, the mask, the midrange, the Bad Boys lineage running through 2004 and into Detroit’s bloodstream forever. This tee is for the heads who’ve been with WELÇOME© since the early days — the ones who grabbed the Damn Sheed tee when it dropped and never looked back.

Which brings us to the lore on this one.

$36.32. The .32 is Rip’s jersey number, no explanation needed. But the 36 is a deliberate callback — it matches the pricing of the Damn Sheed tee, which has been the top-selling piece in the WELÇOME© catalog. I wanted Rip to sit right next to Sheed on the shelf, priced like a brother, because that’s what they were on the court and that’s what they are in the archive. Two Pistons. Same era. Same price. The volume play, by design.

And the colorway. Red wasn’t a mood choice — it was the only choice. Damn Sheed is red. Keeping Rip in the same family means when you see them side by side, they read as a set. Collectors are gonna pair them. That’s on purpose.

The drawing itself hides an Easter egg too: look at the backboard behind him. The scoreboard reads “WELCOME 10 YEARS / 2016-2026.” It’s not a logo slap. It’s a detail baked into the scene for the fans who look twice. If you know, you know.

Why These Two First

I launched the capsule with Skubal and Rip on purpose, not because they were ready first but because together they tell you what WELÇOME© is in 2026.

Skubal is the statement piece — hand-drawn, hand-painted, premium construction, priced like the grail it is. It says: 10 years in, the work has leveled up, and we’re making objects worth keeping.

Rip is the people’s piece — same hand-drawn DNA, priced accessibly, matched to the brand’s top-seller, red like a signal flare. It says: 10 years in, we still remember who’s been here since the beginning, and we’ll always make something you can actually afford to rock.

High and low. Grail and volume. Statement and staple. That’s the range, and every piece in the 10 Year Capsule is going to live somewhere on that spectrum.

The Rest of the Capsule

Three more pieces coming in the next few days:

  • BAM — Bam Adebayo Miami Heat tee, built around his 83-point scoring record with a flame detail hidden in the jersey number

  • ACUFF — Darius Acuff Arkansas Razorbacks tee, priced with an Iverson easter egg, repping a Detroit kid going to work in the SEC

  • YAXEL — Yaxel Lanterborg Michigan embroidered hoodie, marking his national championship, the grail anchor of the capsule

  • and even more !

Early access subscribers are seeing everything first. Public drop Wednesday.

10 Years Down. Drawing the Next Ten.

WELÇOME started in April 2016 as a hand-drawn streetwear brand. A decade later, it’s still hand-drawn, still Detroit-rooted, still independent. The only thing that’s changed is that more of you know about it — and this capsule is the thank-you note for showing up.

Trust in Skub. Let it Rip.

See you on Wednesday.

Trust in Skub.

Detroit's ace gets the WELÇOME treatment — hand-drawn, hand-painted, and printed on the hardest Tigers hoodie on Earth. The front features an original portrait of Tarik Skubal in his away grays paired with a custom orange paw print logo. The back carries a full-color painting of Comerica Park under Detroit skies, stamped with WELÇOME® — 2100 Woodward Ave — Detroit, MI 48201. Yellow WELÇOME embroidery on the left sleeve. This isn't fan merch. This is a love letter to Detroit baseball from a Detroit-rooted brand marking 10 years of hand-drawn streetwear. Every detail is intentional — from the Woodward Avenue address stamp on the back to the $102.02 price point (two-oh-two, for the fans who know why).

Part of the WELÇOME® 10 Year Anniversary Capsule (2016–2026). Limited run. When they're gone, they're gone.

WELÇOME© “Let It Rip” Tee – Rip Hamilton Detroit Basketball Shirt

  • The “Let It Rip” tee is a tribute to one of Detroit’s coldest scorers—captured through WELÇOME’s signature hand-drawn style.

Featuring an original illustration of Rip Hamilton in motion, this piece brings back that era where fundamentals, movement, and precision ruled the game. Clean on the front, with attitude built into the concept, this tee is made for those who remember—and those who move the same way.

This isn’t just a graphic tee.
    It’s a moment.

    LET IT RIP.
