So you achieved an incredibly difficult accomplishment in your life? Congrats, now the whole world is waiting to take you down, you should feel proud. Society tends to focus plenty of energy on winning "the big score" but hardly ever prepare for what come afterwards. Once you've surpassed everyone in your competitive sphere you immediately paint a target on your back.
When Drake started to receive unprecedented praise as the biggest artist in the world people instantly went to "dethrone" him, sort of speak. The Patriots entered their season opener as winners on the biggest stage in football and went home with an L on the first night.
There's a quote from Dr.Dre that goes " You said you wanted a spot like mine But remember, anybody can get it The hard part is keeping it, motherfucker."
the quote above is taken from Kendrick Lamar's "Wesley's Theory" from his 2015 LP, TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY
The challenge isn't in winning it's the consistency of winning. Once you win you proved yourself to be the best but you give ammo into making others better. Take for example, the Golden State Warriors. After their acquisition of Kevin Durant, this past off-season left teams scrambling to compete with the juggernaut in Oakland, making trade deals left and right. But remember the KD trade happened as a result of Lebron being too good.
The best always make people readjust but the greatest always continue to readjust their game as well.

How Not Being Projected as The Best Doesn't Stop You From Being The Best
Today, as I was listening to the UNDISPUTED podcast w/ Skip & Shannon, Skip brought up a point on how NFL teams don't know anything when it comes to picking quarterbacks. He explained how Tom Brady (best QB in the league) was drafted in the 6th round and another great quarterback Russell Wilson, was drafted 3rd. Even Kurt Warner who was undrafted, became a Super Bowl champion and 4x pro bowler.
The problem ambitious people face is no one really knows that your ambitious efforts is going to pay off. They can see you working but no one actually thinks about you achieving maximum level and breaking all expectations. If they did the leachers and supporters would show up much sooner! Much like if the NFL knew these late draft picks would become franchise players, they would've been selected much quicker, guaranteed !
The key lesson to take away from these underestimated greats , is to show up and take advantage when the opportunity presents itself. When Tony Romo became injured in Dallas, Dak Prescott had his chance to fill in since then he led the Cowboys to the playoffs and his predecessor even retired. No analysts can properly predict your trajectory because the unrestricted belief that you have in yourself is yours alone! Hone your skills and sharpen your craft then watch the people in life regret not choosing you earlier !

TRAITS YOU SHOULD EMBODY THAT THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO EMBODY
All of us on the road to success each walk a unique path but there is something that each of us encounter along the way: people telling us what we should/shouldn't do and who we should/shouldn't be. Here are three traits that people try to label those who are brave enough to display bold ambition.
ARROGANCE
In reality, it takes a lot of confidence to make the bold move of pursuing a purpose. When average people see you take on a new attitude of self-belief they re-brand it as "arrogance". There's nothing arrogant about wanting to be your best or seeing your vision come into fruition. All the greats get branded as arrogant such as; Michael Jordan, JAY Z, Tom Brady etc, but notice no one is calling a 3rd string quarterback for the Browns arrogant that's because he doesn't matter! Only those who impact can truly be felt will be called arrogant because their confidence is perceived as threatening.
DELUSIONAL
Phil Knight's BLUE RIBBON SPORTS, an ode to his track days at OREGON
People who haven't took risks are the ones who possess the most limited mindset, they only can see as far as their natural eye. The state of delusion is something everyone possessed if they actually made a difference in the world. Back when Phil Knight first entered the sneaker market, he convinced Japan sneaker brand Onitsuka Tigerthat his company could sell their shoes in the United States. His company didn't even exist, he even made up the name on the spot! That's definitely "delusional" and out of your mind but any normal person with a limited scope couldn't have been that quick on their toes and without that delusion we wouldn't have the NIKE that we have today.
SELFISH
Even I have been called this numerous times as of late. If you're a person with ambition you will be called this too at one point or another but only because it's true! Selfishness has negative connotations but it's only when you put yourself first that you can go all in on your efforts! You could've called Lebron James selfish back when he first decided to join the Miami Heat. He had a goal to be a champion and while he could've been "loyal" to his home team he did what was best for his goal. He eventually went back and won a championship for Cleveland but again him winning a 'ship for Cleveland was HIS goal! People may try to sway you and guilt trip you but if you don't do what's best for you how could you possibly ever help the people that need you to the best of your ability?
So that's it, in a world filled with many positives and negatives you can always expect the positive to be spun towards the negative. However YOU always control the narrative and whatever is said about you, you can always control how to REACT to it.
