HOW COVID-19 MAY AFFECT FUTURE CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS

HOW COVID-19 MAY AFFECT FUTURE CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS

By now, you’ve been affected by the world spread phenomenon of COVID-19 ,known throughout the world as Coronavirus.

20_0305_opa_coronavirus-micro.jpg

Coronavirus have impacted all of America, leaving many people out of work, not knowing where the next dollar may come from, and anxiously waiting for a Government check.

During this meltdown I thought about how would this impact future contracts with freelancers and businesses.

I. PANDEMIC CLAUSE

I can imagine after things go back to “normal”, people will want contract drafters to specify stipulations that will take place if another pandemic is in effect.

business-contracts.jpeg

I can anticipate people would want things such as payment obligations, deadline extensions, or a complete void if pandemic prevents the obligations from being carried out.

You can also expect employees wanting businesses to have emergency funds in place or work from home conditions that will not negatively impact their pay.

II. PARTIES’ HEALTH

Without our health we are extremely limited in what we can accomplish. Hence the term “Health is Wealth”.

Follow my art page on instagram.com/the__corner

Follow my art page on instagram.com/the__corner

I would also anticipate seeing language such as “ as long as parties are within reasonable health” and things of that nature.

Health will become such a focal point because after all this no one wants to work with anyone who is sick.

The slightest cough could send a room into a frenzy.

So parties would want to ensure health is the main priority so that any obligations that must be met will be met with a clear & sound mind and as much good physical health as possible.

III. ALL IN ALL

The Coronavirus is still running rampant throughout the world, devouring anyone who isn’t careful of its cobra clutches.

It is important we remain safe and prayed up.

When we are blessed to engage back in business, we should make sure all i’s are dotted and all our t’s are crossed, making sure we are aren’t caught off guard by a national pandemic like this again.

SHOULD HAVE APPRECIATED IT

SHOULD HAVE APPRECIATED IT

With the recent scare of COVID-19 (infamously known as the “corona virus” ) running rampant, we’re being shown a side we always knew about humanity.

We always known people take things for granted and go crazy when they realize it shouldn’t be taken for granted anymore.

People homes should’ve been filled with basic necessities.

Hands should’ve been washed, an emergency food fund should always be at the forefront of the mind, basic preparedness was always needed.

200313120158-02-empty-aisle-smart--final-grocery-store-0307-exlarge-169.jpg

But now people’s fear have drove them to shop like crazy, frantically getting whatever items are left.

Just like earlier this year with Kobe’s tragic passing.

Only the few that recognized the greatness in Kobe apparel was already hipped to the classics Nike & Adidas produces.

But what happened when he died?

You guessed it..prices surged thru the roof!!

Shoes that were once $120 going for $1500,

Screen Shot 2020-03-19 at 8.14.12 PM.png

Kobe gear was always readily available, people always knew he was a Goat, why was the appreciation taken for granted.

It’s an age old question that get tiresome to answer but always need to be addressed.

Obviously we should appreciate things more before they become scare and that starts by living with gratitude.

When we’re grateful to live life and see greatness we appreciate them different.

tumblr_66a59fa82d08cce1805f03762eeca1bc_519ea477_640.jpg

I’m grateful to witness a run like Lebron’s so I purchase his sneakers and make items inspired by him that shows my gratitude.

I’m appreciative of God placing me in this flesh so I try to honor it by treating it like a temple.

Keeping it clean, eating a certain, and protecting my mind at all costs.

If we learn to move different, when things get dire we won’t turn into scoundrel we can move on with proper adjustment because we’ve prepared and didn’t take this life for granted.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT

YOU DON’T HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT

11_opt.jpg

Yesterday I walked to my neighborhood store to get some snacks, what I normally get usually comes out to $2.

I can tell the cashier was new when he had the nerve to charge me $2.40. I said “whaaaa”. Now I’m typically the type to just go whatever and pay it because I’d rather get on about my day then to argue people down, especially about $2.

However, I always take a stand when I feel like my principles are being interfered with and yesterday they totally were.

I told the young man “Naw bro this never come up to $2.40” and I just looked at him with $2 in my hand and I knew he could feel I wasn’t coming out that 40¢.

He then turned to the more experienced cashier and spoke to him in his native tongue. He then retorted back to me “$2 is fine”.

Me thinking to myself, “Yeah I know it is”, I gave him 8 quarters and trucked it home.

When you know how you or something you care about should be valued, you don’t let people set the standard for you.

Just like I know that total should remain $2, whatever principles you stand on in life should remain, unwavering!

GUITAR RIFF

GUITAR RIFF

maxresdefault (1).jpg

Let me start by say how much I love my internship. Man I love my internship. Anyways, working in a courthouse is starting to feel like I’m in the big game.

Slash rockin’ out

Slash rockin’ out

While I’m watching hearings and talking to Judges & Attorneys, it hit me that I finally got to the fun part, just like learning to play a guitar.

Anyone who has learned or has an interest to learn how to play the guitar, knows you can’t come out the gate riffing like Slash.

You have to learn notes, chords, how to read music, all the monotonous basics before you can solo Welcome to The Jungle at max power.

unnamed.jpg

Just like in law school, you start with the most basic core classes and work your way up.

Now that I’m in my last term it feels as though I’ve finally “worked my way up”.

Now I get the incomparable experience of actually being in the courtroom and my basic foundations are assisting in that experience.

Seeing opening statements triggers my mock trial experience, writing memos for my judge leads me to recall my research & writing class, so on and so forth.

Life gets pretty amazing but only after a solid foundation has been built then you can go on to have the most epic solo of your life!

ITS NOT EVEN PATENTABLE BRO

ITS NOT EVEN PATENTABLE BRO

How many times have someone told you I have an idea? Probably more times you would like to hear. How many times have you seen people execute on those ideas? Its probably a shameful low amount .

Being in my Intellectual Property class made me realize how little value an idea has. We learned in class ideas by itself are not patentable.

PatentabilityFlow1.gif

If the law is basically requiring execution, how can people think they could get away without executing.

Execution is the only thing that matters at the end of the day. My plan of attack can be flawless with no errors in sight but if I never start how valuable is that?

With all my ideas I started them before they were perfected. I started WELÇOME© with no inventory. When people normally start clothing lines, they foolishly purchase mass inventory (which takes too much time & money) then it doesn’t sell and now they are sitting on garbage.

Just produce a shirt and see if people like it. Just put it out!

People want their music to be perfect. “Bro I need a studio and like the perfect producer and like my video gotta be shot by Mr.Hot Shit” blah blah  bro who cares!

Remember you’re at ZERO no one’s checking for you that hard, get in your bag and just drop music. People become fans from consistency, which builds an emotional connection, which allows people to stick with you as your quality inevitably grows.

idea-vs-execution.png

Before I got a microphone or learned how to mix (I’m still learning, idk what the hell I’m doing), I recorded music on my phone or the laptop mic.

People personally tell me how they listen to my songs and I can see the data that shows the same person with a song on repeat. None of those songs was made in a A-1 studio. They were made in Apartments, Basements, & even Cars!

I didn’t let perfection stop me, I didn’t go man I got this idea for this tape and never executed!

Get out there and just do it, because the law doesn’t value your idea and people don’t either, only execution matters.

SPIRITUAL TIES

SPIRITUAL TIES

hand-drawing-unhappy-and-happy-smileys-on-blackboard-background.jpg

Ever had a negative comment that you just couldn’t get over? Even in a sea of admiration and praise. I think I may have found a reason why that is, a spiritual one in fact.

If you are a believer of Christianity then you know that every human is born in sin. Sin is defined as all things opposite of God.

Since you are born in sin, you don’t have to learn negativity and/or wrongdoing, it is simply a natural occurrence.

What takes work is positivity. Showing acts of love, caring for others, being merciful, etc. these are things that don’t come as natural to us, We learn these over time.

So when we see a negative comment and easily dwell on it, it is because our flesh is rooted in that type of energy. It’s rooted in down talk, hatred, greed, and other foul traits.

It is easily to overlook the good that is said about us because love is work. Peace is work. Gratefulness is work.

When you see positivity come across your socials, you have to take time to acknowledge it let it sink in be thankful that people is uplifting your art or sending general words of encouragement.

You have to open yourself up for that kind energy.

But when you see negativity its almost too easy, since our flesh identify with it so much, it is an easy entry way there is no security check for negativity, we foolishly let it in most of the time.

If you’re still doubting think about how hard it is to walk away from someone deserving of a beating from you.

You have to actively choose to react positive, taking your emotions out the picture and assessing the situation with a sound mind.

On Earth our flesh holds dominance since we are hosting our spirit in its physical bodies which is why it is a constant fight between flesh and spirit.

flesh-and-Spirit-2.jpg

It sounds daunting but it is a winnable fight, it just takes hard work and dedication.

Sure there will be stuff that get us upset and lose control but if we remember to make the choice to be positive all can work in our favor.

WHY SUPPLIES ARE SO HIGH

WHY SUPPLIES ARE SO HIGH

Me at my art show, two weeks ago. I put a lot of money into, knowing it would be worth it for the monetary gain and exposure. Well worth the cost of entry.

Me at my art show, two weeks ago. I put a lot of money into, knowing it would be worth it for the monetary gain and exposure. Well worth the cost of entry.

I always wondered why supplies (i.e. art, music,) are so expensive. It doesn’t matter what field you are in the supplies are always more than what you would like to pay.

I think it clicked it to me after my art show and being in the final term of law school.

When the supplies are used the right way, there is no cap on return of investment. I could spend thousands on art supplies: getting paper, markers, pencils etc. and make it all back with one sale. (Maybe a few more depending on expenses).

Since supplies are expensive, it’s disrespectful when people try to constantly low ball artists. It costs to produce fire please don’t think $20 should be the most you should pay for anything.

Also, I have this thought when it comes to law school. Although people complained for years about the prices of schooling and whether or not you need it, I think law school may be expensive for a different reason.

The impact and return on investment from law school can extremely outweigh the cost of education if your JD, that’s your Juris Doctor degree, is used correctly.

Possibly the most famous lawyer in existence.

Barack Obama, you know who he is lol.

Bryan Stevenson, Lawyer who fights for the poor and disenfranchised

Bryan Stevenson, Lawyer who fights for the poor and disenfranchised

Look at people like Bryan Stevenson, Barack Obama, Johnnie Cochran, and many other countless examples, whose impact greatly exceeds the cost of law school.

What is hundreds of thousands in costs and possible debt compared to the chance to literally save people lives, guide the free world, or take arguably the most notorious case in history.

These opportunities are almost priceless.

When you can acknowledge and accept everything has a barrier of entry, you can respect the fact that these prices are set for a reason.

When you spend that $1,000 on a keyboard, or those few hundreds on computer software, you won’t let that money go to waste, especially if its your own hard earned money!

No sir! You’re going to put your best foot forward making sure every penny spent will earn you back something even if its only spiritual gain and not a monetary increase.

THIS MEAN SOMETHING

KOBE, INC. BY JAEVONN HARRIS ~ INSTAGRAM.COM/THE__CORNER

KOBE, INC. BY JAEVONN HARRIS ~ INSTAGRAM.COM/THE__CORNER

Today marks the untimely loss of basketball icon Kobe Bryant. Kobe, who’s greatness I’m probably not even qualified to describe, is mourned by millions if not billions, worldwide.

As always, when someone of incredible stature dies there is always an asshole, who wants to drive home the point of “he’s just a basketball player” and/or “you don’t even know him”.

Such words are always wildly unnecessary and does nothing but show how idiotic some people can be.

It is easy to criticize people over their emotional attachment to celebrities, material possessions, and even the intangible things pop culture offers.

However, the emotional attachment to these things can often have a deeper meaning than their surface level presentation.

WHEN THE LEGENDS LINK by Jaevonn Harris

WHEN THE LEGENDS LINK by Jaevonn Harris

To me Kobe just wasn’t a basketball player. He was a strategist, a person whose physique was overshadowed by his brilliant mind.

The thing that impressed me the most wasn’t necessarily basketball, it was Kobe’s just other-worldly approach to life.

The fact he spoke several languages, his incredible work ethic, his obsessiveness with conquering his opponent, it is something truly to admire.

When a person or thing possess this much enigma of course you’re going to develop an attachment.

People crude remarks about a person just being a celebrity or any phrase that diminish significance just made me think about a classic piece of artwork I did.

The piece “THIS DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING” actually meant the exact opposite, everything on the picture actually mean something!

THIS DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING by Jaevonn Harris

THIS DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING by Jaevonn Harris

Whether it was the dropout bear that helped solidified my love for Ye, or the kingdom key from Kingdom Hearts, the video game that I can remember playing for countless hours trying to complete it.

This things may not mean anything, but given the right circumstances & the passage of time, anything can mean everything!

Not too long ago, I was listening to T.I.’s Expeditiously,(great podcast check it out) and famed radio-hpst & entrepreneur, Charlamagne Tha God, was the special guest for the week.

In that episode they discussed religion, (yes a very sticky topic for everyone) and the gentlemen were confused on how the whole power dynamic between God and Jesus work.

They(specifically T.I.) were confused about how no one could get to God without going thru the son, Jesus. They couldn’t understand how the Son could have power over the father.

As a devoted Christian, I thought quite a bit how I could explain a somewhat confusing concept to a non-believer or simply anyone who would want to know how that work.

One morning at work, it suddenly came to me. What we know as The Holy Trinity, (God, Jesus, & the Holy Spirit) works in tandem and you can’t have one without the other.

images.jpeg

A simple way to grasp this is to think about it as a bike, God & Jesus are the wheels and the Holy Spirit is the handle bars. Without all three the bike would not be able to work effectively and that’s how the Holy Trinity works.

Before the Holy Spirit was introduced in the New Testament it took a lot to communicate with God. Sacrifices and a bunch of stuff most people couldn’t keep up with today had to be done in order to talk to the Big Man.

You can think of God pre New Testament as a unicycle. It was God solely and that was effective but difficult to navigate. The difficulty of riding a unicycle can be adjacent to the difficultly of maintaining an effective relationship with God in those days.

Thus the New Testament(the bike) makes life much easier to deal with.

In this world of overachievers and plain old doers, sometimes being a consumer can get a bad rep. Even though it is consumers that allow businesses and especially entrepreneurs to thrive.

original-3883593-1.jpg

You often hear people debate about producer vs consumer. Consumption only becomes a problem if there is too much consuming without producing. Consuming should prompt action eventually.

Take for example, this weekend when I was watching Netflix’s Carole & Tuesday, an anime about two girls and their come up in the music industry. While watching the show I was so intrigued about the world building, characters, and the music.

While taking all that in, I was inspired to make new music that is directly influenced from the show. That’s what being a consumer is about. A person can’t be a producer without someone to consume the content (well they can but it would fall on deaf ears).

I didn’t just consume consume consume, I took something as pure entertainment and allowed it to naturally spark action for me to take.

Now I found a new fav show and made new music, that my listeners are sure to enjoy! (My new album, Gotta Love Where Ya At out Jan. 2020.)

THE BASEMENT: FIRST SIGN OF INDEPENDENCE

THE BASEMENT

FIRST SIGN OF INDEPENDENCE

The Basement has been a cornerstone in the community for years. Basements were so important that there was a whole tv show acting like they was in a basement.

Rap City’s The Basement helped emulate the raw feeling of listening to music in your basement, you actually felt like a guest in Big Tigger’s (pictured right) home.

Rap City’s The Basement helped emulate the raw feeling of listening to music in your basement, you actually felt like a guest in Big Tigger’s (pictured right) home.

You may ask yourself why would someone act like they was in a basement, what is the significance of that? The answer is, the basement represents an organic feel and serves as a starting point towards an individually led life.

I remember the basement in several ways. The Basement had minimal supervision by adults which allowed you to operate without someone watching your every move.

Basements were the place for parties, creating music, many dreams starts and unfortunately ends in the basement. The Basement as previously mentioned is only supposed to be a starting point.

When in the Basement mindset, expectations are low, you can work with restrictions, and you’re living life without urgency. It’s all about fun and just making the most out of the situation.

But at some point, the Basement should be left to cover higher ground in life. It is acceptable to see a 17 year old or younger in the basement but the older you get the less acceptable it becomes.

Reason being is the Basement is limited in what can be accomplished. If the Basement started as your gym, you wouldn’t work out down there forever, even if you may have all the essentials, the more you get into working out the more you would desire a true facility.

Making music in the Basement can get tiresome at some point as well, you have to worry about the noise or the quality or even the overall atmosphere. At some point you will desire to upgrade and surpass the four wall limit.

No matter what you do the goal is to obtain complete freedom to operate in the full capacity that is desired for yourself. The Basement helps us realize our origins and with enough work & dedication anything we did starting in the basement can be taken worldwide.

ISMs and its DANGERS

ISMs and its DANGERS

Mindset may be the most impactful factor to how we live our daily lives. People’s mindset dictate the way they live and the way they live impacts their world and its surroundings. It is wise to know and understand the “isms” of the world and its impact to ourselves and others.

  1. re·al·ism

/ˈrē(ə)ˌlizəm/

noun

  1. 1.
the attitude or practice of accepting a situation as it is and being prepared to deal with it accordingly.

One of the keys to operating successfully in life is dealing with situations realistically. Knowing when to call it quits is a strong skill set that is under-utilized. The problem with realism is people become way too pessimistic. They confuse their pessimism with “realism” and being a “realist”.

A realist can not only see the negative but can also see the positive silver lining. Those who live in realism too deeply might abandon their dreams completely even when they shouldn’t. Example: maybe you can’t be a professional basketball player, but basketball is your passion undoubtedly. Should you give up totally on basketball? No you shouldn’t. You can do other things surrounding basketball. Such as: sports analyst, coach, sports lawyer, sports doctor, YouTube commentator, sports writer, etc. There are so many avenues that your passion can take you but if you’re too focused on being realistic, you’ll never be able to see the other opportunities.

B. i·de·al·ism

/īˈdē(ə)ˌlizəm/

noun

  1. 1.
the practice of forming or pursuing ideals, especially unrealistically.

Idealism is basically the antithesis of realism. It's looking at everything with rose colored glasses. I can be at fault with looking at things too idealistic. Pursuing plans with the intent of everything going perfect is the surest way that nothing goes perfect.

Murphy’s Law says, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”. Therefore all mishaps should be planned for accordingly, which can be a difficult task for those who wished for things to go exactly how it is in their head. It will never go exactly the way it is in your head.

Idealism often leads to disappointment. The Ideal outcome can create expectations that can never be met. If you lived long enough you know expecting too much from imperfect humans is the quickest way to being let down.

If you don’t wanna be let down and experience heartbreak a thousand times over, Control over your ideals is a requirement.

our-idealism-cause-us-to-miss-out-happiness.jpg

C.op·ti·mism

/ˈäptəˌmizəm/

noun

  1. 1.
hopefulness and confidence about the future or successful outcome of something.
"the talks had been amicable and there were grounds for optimism"

Why-Optimism-Matters-for-Student-Success-Now-and-After-Graduation1-300x225.jpg

Optimism can work as a beautiful balance of being idealistic and realistic. An optimist can deal with the realities in life while vehemently working towards an ideal goal. The only downfall of optimism is coming to grips with knowing everyone’s future can’t be saved.

It's easy to see someone or something for what it is but it's like pulling a tooth admitting that the future of said person or thing simply can’t be saved.

When faced with this difficulty the optimist should find peace in the actions they took to reach the ideal state regardless of the outcome their actions produced.

I would like to leave you with a quote from the king of ISMs himself, Chicago Rapper, GLC.

Apply yourself to supply your wealth

Only limitations you'll ever have are those that you place upon yo'self

HOW POVERTY RESTRICTS AND ENFORCE A CAGED MINDSET

HOW POVERTY RESTRICTS AND ENFORCE A CAGED MINDSET

poverty-mindset-logo.png

The other day I was covering a lot of ground in Michigan and it just open my eyelids on how much I couldn’t see in my own state because of restrictions.

Financial restrictions close a person off to so much, including traveling.

When people aren’t given the resources to explore complacency can set in.

When people become complacent, excuses comes in like a tidal wave, giving people the most absurd reasons to why they CAN’T do something.

People start to act like they don’t want something because they don’t have access to it.

Which was the case w/ Gucci Mane, an American rapper, who’s been known to have extensive run-ins with the law.

However after his most recent bid, life changed for him completely, transforming Gucci into a whole new man, so much so people started a running joke saying he was a clone.

Gucci Mane, spoke with his interviewer, Charlamagne Tha God (Popular Radio Host), that he would come up with half-ass excuses to why he would not want to visit a foreign country. At the time, he couldn’t visit foreign land because of his criminal record.

Knowing the criminal record was the true reason, Gucci’s mindset instead deferred to rejecting places he couldn’t visit in the first place because he couldn’t face the truth about his restrictions.

At that time Gucci Mane wasn’t financially impoverished but his mindset was.

Poverty can be literal and figurative.

In either case it restricts a person in everything they do.

Poverty restricts a person dating life because poverty can create negative thinking that convinces oneself he or she is not enough.

Poverty can restrict academic performance, sport performance, anything that require human effort, poverty can negatively impact it.

To lose and shred the caged mindset, one must start to think free. This thought typically occurs when a person acquires more money but it must start before then.

People can start by choosing what they allow their minds to see everyday.

Growing up in my neighborhood I saw pitiful things, things that were detestable to me and below my standard of living. If I would’ve abided by only what I saw in my communities, I wouldn’t have amounted to much. I decided to place my eyes on different sources.

That first step for me was GQ MAGAZINE. The lifestyle depicted in that magazine was one I knew I wanted the moment I laid my eyes on it.

Seeing that helped shift my mindset from impoverished limited thinking to unlimited potential.

Whether its a magazine, movie, or even a family member. Seeing something opposite of the reinforced poverty lifestyle can spark the changed needed for the individual to escape a caged mindset. Once the mind is set free, their is no bounds to what one can see.
